I remember when The Lion King was released in theaters. You guys, it was 23 years ago! I must have been a junior in high school then – maybe a senior – but my friends and I wanted to see it so we made it a girls’ night out. We sobbed. We laughed. We repeated (and repeated and repeated) all of our favorite quotes. The Lion King is still one of my favorite films of all time.
Now, Disney’s The Lion King Signature Collection is now available on digital and Blu-ray™!
This year at D23 Expo, we celebrated the release of The Lion King Signature Series Collection Blu-Ray with a panel that featured a few of the film’s stars and release of The Lion King on Blu-Ray about the classic movie. The release of The Lion King on Blu-Ray is special not only because of the higher quality of the film but because of all the extras that are now included on the disc!
The coming-of-age masterpiece, filled with humor and heart, breathtaking animation and soul-stirring Academy Award®–winning music (1994: Best Original Score and Best Original Song, “Can You Feel the Love Tonight”) is a favorite among fans. and will give them a chance to fall in love all over again with the treasured classic.
My daughter’s FAVORITE (and I say this because since we received the movie a week ago from Disney, she’s watched it 27 times) is the sing-along version of the film you can play!
The release will also allow a new generation of fans to laugh with Timon and Pumbaa, cry with Simba and Mufasa, burst into song, and find their place in the “Circle of Life.”
The Walt Disney Signature Collection release includes over three hours of classic bonus material and exclusive, brand new features inviting viewers to sing along with the film’s award-winning music, observe recording sessions, step inside the story room, witness the evolution of a villain, and join Nathan Lane(voice of Timon) and Matthew Broderick (voice of Adult Simba) for an extended conversation regarding the legacy of “The Lion King.”
The new live-action version of the film, directed by Jon Favreau and stars Hugh Jackman as Scar, late night host John Oliver as Zazu, Donald Glover as Simba, and James Earl Jones returning to voice Mufasa.
