I’m always looking for ways to use things we have around the house – old Christmas decorations, scrapbooking supplies, even toys. Upcycling to create new Christmas decorations or to create everyday home decor is a great way to save money.
We just created a great way to use some supplies that we had around the house to create this amazing 3D Christmas Tree Farm Shadow Box that is now hanging in my entry way and is the perfect conversation piece. It’s easy to make and so adorable!
How adorable is this?! I love the classic feel of it, too, right down to the old truck and even the font that we used. And it fits perfectly with the holiday decor by which our home is quickly being taken over.
First, you’ll need to find an old toy car or truck, some holiday scrapbooking stickers, fake snow, a shadow box frame, some lettering, tiny trees, and super glue or spray adhesive.
We removed the back of the shadow box frame and applied spray adhesive. We cut to size this awesome scrapbook paper with snowflakes and trees.
We also found wood grain paper which we used to line the bottom of the inside of the shadow box. It makes a sort of road for the truck. We then applied a little bit of super glue to the bottom of the truck wheels and stuck it to the inside of the box.
We also applied super glue to the bottom of the tiny trees that we found in the modeling department of our craft store. We then applied to the back of the frame, onto our paper, a cute scrapbooking banner, added an arrow, and the lettering we found. I LOVE the font of the lettering because I felt it really fit with the decade of the toy truck we had.
We then added fake snow to the inside of the shadow box. We made sure to put some on the trees and the truck.
Then, we secured the back of the box onto the frame and that’s it! How super easy is that? You can use any size shadow box frame as long as it fits the truck both length and width wise. You also want to make sure that you have plenty of room for your other trees.
If you want to add an extra something fun and festive, try securing small wire LED lights to the top!
It’s so easy that it’s definitely a craft that the kids could help with. Just don’t use their favorite toy car or truck!
